This project extracted similarities that exist between honeybees and ourselves as makers. We would disperse to our individual studios to collect, manipulate, create, store, and record in the glass tubes. The tubes were sealed with beeswax to store and preserve the crop. The created media in the glass test tubes were then brought together and suspended as a swarm. We cataloged the collection, which resulted in a material list. A segment of that list was produced on orange Dymo label tape that circled the gallery walls. An accompanying sound track was recorded to cite the contents of the individual tubes and played in the gallery as a murmured conversation. The collective, en masse, spawned why be/e collective’s final form and the resulting visual, written and oral language of making.
